Our goal is to ensure we’re the best fit for you.

No hidden fees

  • No food and beverage minimum or spending amount.

  • No minimum number of guests required.

  • No requirement for real china (which can easily add $1,000+ to your catering bill.)

  • Linens are optional ! Our custom wood tables were designed to use without linens if you choose (linens are required if using rented tables).

  • Unrestricted Vendor Choices . Directly hire your favorite vendors and avoid any extra costs. No service fees from us means significant savings for you, especially for larger services like catering, which could add up to a 7 - 20 % swing!

***Any new bookings after November 1, 2023 will require an approved month or day-of Coordinator.

  • Exclusive use of the historic house and scenic grounds for your ceremony and/or reception from 10am to 11pm

  • Indoor capacity of 55 seated. Anything over 55 must secure a tent separately for a reception on the lawn. Maximum 100 guests for dining outdoor on the lawn and on property.

  • Full access to the remarkable 1,200 square foot covered porch for your ceremony, reception, or cocktail hour- or all three!

  • Hundreds of timeless and trendy décor and furniture - items you can borrow at no additional fee. Checkout the Decor Tab.

  • Three outdoor ceremony locations :

    1. On the Front Lawn, with the house and porch as your backdrop & stage.

    2. Under Maggie, our 125 year old Magnolia tree (think chandelier or cafe lights in her branches?)

    3. Outside the original tobacco barn

  • Indoor Ceremony : Main Hall - for seating up to 40 or standing room up to 60.

  • Rain Backup Tents - two 10 x 30 tents are available for outdoor ceremony rain backup only. (Indoor ceremony max capacity is 40 , and dining 55.) Over 55 guests, dining will be on the lawn and a tent rental is required.

  • Tables - (16) Custom natural wood tables with modern white metal legs.

  • Chairs - white wood padded chairs for our maximum guest count of 100.

  • All set-up and break down of all Barber Mill furniture items

  • A Barber Mill staff member - onsite for your entire day.

  • 1 hour of Rehearsal time not on wedding day.

  • Access to house & grounds for a 1- hour Engagement Photo Session (photographer separate - time can be used 1 year before or after your wedding date)

  • Access to Guest Wifi

  • Online Planner - our extensive step-by-step proprietary resource for your wedding planning needs. Think sample timelines, layouts, packing lists, helpful tips etc.!

  • Two dressing suites - both with private bathrooms, vanities, and lockable storage area.

  • Snacks & beverages - for each dressing suite while getting ready on the morning of.

  • Multiple gorgeous photo ops - throughout the property, including our meadow /wildflowers (seasonal).

  • Booked Couples Only Open Houses- held every 6-8 weeks to revisit us for your borrowed décor, planning or rehearsal purposes.

  • On-site guest parking and parking attendants - for up to 50 cars.

  • Separate Vendor Parking

  • Handicap accessible - house and restrooms

  • Security guard ( included) - for 75 guests or more with alcohol.

Use Thursday (up to 50 people for your rehearsal, dinner and even to decorate, making Friday a little less stressful!

The quality of your event is of the utmost importance to us.

Here is your ideal guest count.

  • 55 guests or below

    Can be comfortably seated to dine inside the venue.

  • 56-100 guests

    Have full use of the house & porch for activities such as getting ready or cocktail hour, with a tented reception and dining on the lawn. (Reception tent rented separate from Venue Fee)

Insurance, Taxes, and Additional Info

We require a $1m event insurance policy with The House on Barber Mill listed as the additional insured.

Approximate cost - is about $200

  • North Carolina charges a 6.75% sales tax in addition to the venue rental

  • Pricing subject to change at any time.

    Your contracted rate and terms will be based on the date the contract is written, not the date of the tour. (Sometimes couples tour weeks or months before they book, or before we open a future year calendar for booking. If there has been a change in rate, the contracted investment/terms will be based on the date we wrote in the contract, not the date of the tour.)

  • As of November 1, 2023 we now require an insured approved month or day of Coordinator.

  • We aim to have no hidden fees. Linens (not necessary), and a tent rental ( over 55 guests) are the only things you might add on to our rental fee. You can choose to rent these items through us or a third party.

  • The House on Barber Mill owns two 10 x 30 tents for a ceremony rain backup (only)

  • Discounts available for Active-duty and Veterans of the US Military.

 

Catering and Bar Options

The House on Barber Mill is teaming up with several amazing caterers at a variety of price points with delicious menu options. 

Please note that you will need to hire a licensed and insured bartender or bar service for your event if you are serving liquor. You can buy your own alcohol but cannot serve it legally in North Carolina without a licensed and insured bartender.

Additional permit needed for liquor service.

For beer & wine only, use of our in-house bartending service is required. You may still bring in your own beer & wine inventory. You can also provide your own liquor.
